This Rudbeckia Hirta “Prairie Sun” is one of those small treasures that makes me pause whenever I walk through my garden. I photographed it on a warm summer afternoon, when the sun was high and its petals seemed to glow with their own inner light.

There’s something uplifting about the way it stands—bright, open, unapologetically full of life. Behind it, the red moss roses soften into a gentle blur, creating a vibrant background that feels almost like a painted canvas.

Every time I look at this image, it brings me back to that quiet moment: the warmth of the season, the stillness in the air, and the feeling that nature sometimes offers us little reminders of joy, if we only take the time to notice.

Sunset on the West Coast of Mauritius

I took this photo on the west coast of Mauritius, the island where I was born. The fishermen were coming back to shore at the end of the day, and one of them quietly raised his hand to wave at me. It was such a small gesture, yet it made the moment feel warm and familiar — almost like the island was saying hello again.

The colours of the sky that evening were the ones I remember so well from my childhood: soft gold, warm orange, and the gentle warm breeze from the sea settling into night. Watching the boats move slowly over the water brought back memories of peaceful evenings on the beach, when everything felt calm and unhurried.

This photo reminds me of those simple moments — the kind that stay with you no matter where life takes you. It’s a little piece of home, carried in the light of a Mauritian sunset.

Yellow Gerbera — Late Afternoon Light

This Yellow Gerbera was photographed in my garden in the calm of a late afternoon, when the sun was low on the horizon and everything seemed to soften.
